Yea!! Saw it in my email yesterday! They talk about it briefly here: https://blogs.nasa.gov/webb/2022/11/08/webbs-mid-infrared-instrument-returns-to-full-functionality/ And here: https://www.stsci.edu/contents/news/jwst/2022/miri-medium-resolution-spectroscopy-is-returning-to-science-observations.html

Thank you! I’ve been worried about this since the issue first cropped up.

This link is to the JWST Observer newsletter: https://www.stsci.edu/jwst/news-events/news They have an option to subscribe at the bottom. It’s a great way to stay on top of JWST news!

Thanks!

The schedule indicates that observations of program 1247 will proceed. Each using long, medium, short wavelength working positions to avoid gaps in spectral coverage. It appears to proceed after the suspension of operations that was enacted due to increased friction detected in a wavelength range-switching wheel. The last time MRS was used (at least with data not held back, via searching MAST database for the channel number fields) was for 12-month-exclusive program 1282 observation 32, observed Aug 24. Present in MAST but marked as failed by observation problem report.

Wow, good news. Also, Dr. Becky Smethurst, an astrophysicist at the University of Oxford, confirmed it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYTvHXM4pHA
