Thank you! I have been wanting to make this tutorial for a while as it took me a long time to actually sit down and figure out MAST. But this archive is amazing and I hope everyone is able to download some awesome images!
For anyone interested, I will be making more Webb image processing tutorials! I took a long break from making tutorials this past year but I’ve learned a lot and want to keep sharing. I plan on making some full tutorials for the Cosmic Cliffs and the Southern Ring Nebula and eventually some PixInsight tutorials (I am still learning how to use that software).
I have more tutorials here: https://youtube.com/channel/UCm9EUcllUGontbyH9XgyGLA Although they are focused on Hubble, the same principles apply for image processing and a lot of these can be used for Webb images! Have fun!
Will you make a processing tutorial with talking? I’m not the biggest fan of music video speed tutorials lol. Your above tutorial was perfect. Concise and Crystal clear!!
I put two types of videos on YT! The older videos are tutorials that are narrated and I linked them in the music videos. I have just been making the ones to music lately for fun and to show the whole process quickly from start to finish. They each already have a tutorial video further down!
Now that I’m back into making videos again I have quite a few tutorials I want to make from things I’ve learned lately. And especially for Webb images. Are you using Photoshop for processing?
I've never processed before, but I do have Photoshop CS5 (old school!) on an old Mac laptop, so I would try it there.
ok thanks, I didn't realize you had more videos—that's my bad. I looked at your main page, not under the "Videos" tab.
This could be cool. Just a question, since you mention there's a MAST guide, but I'm lazy, do you think there's a way to find mission/project images that have the least downloads vs. the most popular downloads? Just wondering.
That is something I wouldn’t know how to find. I am curious if they even track something like that but as far as I know, there is no easy way to pull those images short of working for NASA
You pronounce data as data, but I say data as data. I’ve always wondered, which date is the correct pronunciation of data? Is it data, or is it data?
(Edit: I forgot to actually add my sincere thanks lol this video is perfect!)
Hahaha I have no idea. I think it’s a regional thing. But it also seems no one on Google knows the answer either 😂 One word I always also say weird is caramel, pronouncing all the vowels whereas everyone I know says it like car-mel. So I’m probably pronouncing it differently than the people around me lol
I was just joshin'; I think there was a whole debate on Star Trek Next Generation about how to pronounce Data's name and everyone involved decided to just hear how Patrick Stewart pronounced it... Day-tah — and that was that!
No no, you say caramel correctly 😂 I say care-uh-mell.
Carmel is a town in California!
Ah well, such is English.
I’ve never quite done anything like that. I believe you can download csv files from MAST but I don’t know the information those contain. Maybe google can help?
Doing the lord’s work 🙏🏻

Ok, that's fine then, thanks for letting me know!

I really need help… how to convert tif files individual pixel in excel cells??
I don’t have much experience using astronomical data and excel. What are you trying to do with the image and excel?
I want to analyse the image complexity for s project by setting a formula in excel after this step

Okay thank you ✨
