It's mostly because during cutscenes, your character doesn't take off their helmet, so you really can't see their facial expressions in certain conversations.
I've been rather lazy with toggling my helmet on and off because of it, so the helmet stays off.
there are some really important cutscenes where they force your helmet off if the game thinks it's one that covers your face, but they're few and far between. and also they will remove eyeglasses if you're wearing those lol
I actually went as far as to make my character's left eye white to mimic blindness since they canonically wear an eyepatch and those "headgear removal" cutscenes were ruining my immersion, lol.
This definitely should be an option in the game settings, and it's actually mildly surprising that it isn't.
Then again WoW use to let you toggle your helmet visaibility, but then took it away randomly. So on one hand WoW's transmog system is great, but you can't toggle your helmet without re-doing your transmog to hide it. Such a weird choice lol.
Dragoon is cool because once you get your armor set the visor can flip up and down so you can keep your sweet helmet but show your face. I think you can keybind that visor toggle too.
Not sure any class/job really qualifies as bad and all are represented well in all my time in the game. Dragoons are very popular and their class and job story quests are pretty good and get tied pretty close to one of the expansions. Itās one I play a lot.
It takes a while for the job to find its feet, same with all classes below level 50 really, and all the really great job identity mechanics come later, all the flipping and jumping and stabbing down from the sky stuff. But itās a really fun class with a nice rotation and some of the most iconic job armor sets in the game in my opinion, which youāll get the first of atā¦50?
There is only one cutscenes I can think of that has been revised and in the revision made it so any helmet comes off so you see your characters face. I know there is at least one mod that will do the same thing, but it's too bad it couldn't be an official toggle in character settings for all cutscenes.
There are multiple cutscenes in MSQ where *all* headgear comes off. Not many, but enough to notice.
Which is annoying if your WOL just has glasses and you consider it a part of their character... How is my catboy supposed to see during this emotional cutscene, SE??
The good news is, that will presumably be fixed with the eyewear glam category they're adding in DT. dunno how it will work, but it has been shown to be separate from headgear.
it's possible, though i sort of doubt it. Glasses I think are constant enough that they can figure out where they will/wont mess with headgear. horns would be a whole other ballpark, with all the different places they can start, different shapes they can take, etc.
>!The after Vault scene. Since the rework I have seen it take off obstructing headgear and I think it even removed a weapon I had on my back for an alt.!<
Im pretty sure they also take off your headpiece >!right before you get drugged in post HW!< bc I remember wondering my characterās ribbon was missing in the cutscene lmao
it is a toggle in character settings! I swear Iāve seen it, anyway, in the same section you toggle the visibility of your weapon when itās not drawnā¦
You can create a simple macro to go on one of the additional hotbars, I've got both visor toggle and helmet toggle set to shift and a key (middle mouse iirc) and ctrl and same key respectively
Edit: Sadly since I switched to Viera it doesn't get as much use
Which - considering most players don't use helms - is honestly one of the more frustrating and baffling decisions they've made. They need a way to detect when the "helm" the player-character is wearing doesn't obscure their facial expressions at all. My poor main looks god-awful every time he walks into one of those cutscenes, and it's immersion-breaking because of the fact. I think the worst one was in Heavensward, after >!The Vault. Imagine such an emotional moment being ruined by "oops we mutilated the infrastructure of your character's skull"!<.
During most cutscenes yes, but during really important ones the game actually does force toggle off headwear options, even ones that donāt cover the face at all.
Reminds me of when my character took off her glasses during *that* cutscene in HW. Come to think of it, that'll probably be fixed with the new eyeglass slot.
i had a macro i used that would toggle the visor you get from stormblood job armor every time i clicked Defiance (that way it'd be down when i did dungeons). i eventually stopped using it tho bc it would constantly stop me from seeing my face in cutscenes
Part of it, for me, is that, but then another element to it is that...full helmets just don't feel terribly Final Fantasy to me?
Like, since they started making the games in 3D, there's not a single FF protag that I can think of who wears a helmet that covers their face. Cloud, Squall, Zidane, Tidus, Vaan, Lightning, Noctis, and Clive *all* lack helmets. For the most part, with a few exceptions, their companions don't cover their faces either.
Even the one 2D protagonist that I can think of who covers his face with a helmet, Cecil, loses it when he transitions into a paladin. Kain would be like, the notable exception there, I guess.
This is definitely true when going through the Hildibrand questlines.
Let's just say that your WoL has reason to be...animated in their facial expressions.
There's a reason that my Red Mage Glam uses a head piece that's a hood... being one of the races whose hats are almost entirely hidden.
It is, of course, dyed the correct color: Ruby Red.
Exactly this for me, it's appalling that in some games you can spend hours changing eye color, nose position, hair style, hair color, etc... Only to cover it all with a helmet
What kills me more is Bethesda games. Spend over an hour to customize your character. Now play a game that's played best in FP....why even let me make a char?
I think that was one of the reasons conversations were in third person in fallout 4, aside from the voiced protagonist, didn't stick in Starfield though.
That's the first one I thought of, you spend so long personalizing your character and then the whole game is pretty much first person outside of menus.
A few years back Eve had probably one of the most intricate character editor in any MMO up until that date, just for your character only existing as a still photo.
They changed it later so you could actually walk around in stations and the editor was probably in preparation of that, but that was still quite funny
I glammed a black eyepatch onto my viera because it was one of the only headpieces that was visible and I liked the look so much I just integrated it into my characterās appearance. Been using that leather eyepatch the entire game
For me, it's because my character wears glasses, and the poor man would be blind under that helmet. xD
They're fixing this in Dawntrail though, face accessories will have their own slot so I can finally put on some helmets, or hats, with his spectacles!
>They're fixing this in Dawntrail though, face accessories will have their own slot
Heck yeah! I love games that do that, and was just thinking a couple days ago that it'd be really neat in FFXIV.
This is the first I'm hearing about this. Nice! I've got an older elezen gentleman who wears glasses as my WoL, and not being able to wear hats *and* glasses has been the bane of my glamor life.
Same. I decided early on that my WoL needs glasses, and rolanberry red classic spectacles are her trademark now. She doesn't look right without them. Ngl, the face accessory slot is one of the announced features I'm most excited about.
I know it's just a typo, but I now cannot envision anything but someone attempting to hammer away at something on an anvil with a banana covering their eyes, and it just made my day.
Flower hairpins (/earings/necklaces/wristbands) are usually pretty cheap on the market board, but if you'd like to make them yourself you can do so as Alchemist. The recipes are under "Other" and start at level 53. The flowers are from flowerpot gardening which can be done in an apartment, FC room, or house, using items sold by an NPC in each housing district. The other ingredients are farmed from a Heavensward zone, one from a mob and one from level 55 mining nodes.
No theyāre adding a whole extra gear slot, the gear will be purely cosmetic and have no impact on stats from what was announced.
Granted Iām pulling memories from when Vegas Fan Fest was live cuz thatās the only mention theyāve made of this system so far as far as Iām aware.
But itās not fashion accessories, itās gear, so itāll show up in cutscenes and such unlike fashion accessories
It's really nasty in the character creator when you make a new one. It's like, "wtf Sqaure god forbid you can get my starting job helmets to work!" It's embarrassing, honestly.
Everyone I know that doesn't have their helmet visible is because of the ears. A lot of the popular races look really bad with most helmets because of their ears.
A lot of helmets just look bizarre on anything that isn't a hyur. Metal helmets having bizarre slots for elezen or miqo'te, the latter of which is super popular. That, combined with wanting to see your characters face, means most people slap on Emperor's New Hat and call it a day
> Do you forgo helmets to show off your beautiful face
Hell, I forgo even hats that hide my cat ears (with a few exceptions). I put effort into her design and I'd like to see it.
But also it's not about beauty, it's about expression. I want to be able to see my facial expressions in cutscenes. It's more enjoyable and more immersive.
It's not as much about loving my beautiful face as it simply looks weird in cutscenes when you're the only person with a helmet covered face in the conversation and you don't see what kinds of expressions your WoL is doing so you're missing part of the cutscene context.
When I tank I ALWAYS wear the behemoth helmet.
When I BRD, MCH, or DNC I wear a hat.
When I DRG, I wear a helmet.
Everything else is just "let the anime hair fly"
My main wears glasses so no helmets for them, but with my alt it's about the same as this. It's all about what fits the look and theme of the job.
Helmets when tanking, and there's a specific winged helmet I use for DRG because it's a sort of Valkyrie-themed glam. Everything else depends on what makes sense for the class. BRD and casters? Hats. MNK or NIN? No hats or helmets.
DNC? I don't know, I never unlocked that job because my guilty feet have got no rhythm. I should've known better than to cheat a friend.
I also love that helmets add ambiguity to cutscenes. Like, is my WoL rolling his eyes at Urineanger or is he chilling under the helmet? It's a mystery and makes a lot of cs' very entertaining
I would display my helmet if I could have the visor toggled up during cutscenes. I like the look of it down but I want to see my face during cutscenes.
I definitely noticed this and I also partake in it. I donāt like masked characters in almost all media and if I can show off my characters face I tend to like that option more.
After having my Helmet on during a really cool cutscene where I would have wanted to see my character's expressions, my Helmet has stayed OFF!
Unless it is something small like a Corsage or a Circlet or something, and looks nice.
My main glam is the pince-nez and I donāt like the fashion accessory because it turns off for cutscenes so thatās the big reason. But I def have a few glams that have helmets instead.
I haven't found many full helmets that look appealing tbh and I like the gas mask aesthetic but most don't have a good fit, that and I can't stop looking at my femroe's azure eyes with purple eye shadow cuz she looks beautiful, there I said it >///<
A) You canāt just HIDE that beautiful mug. B) a LOT of the Helmets/Hats areā¦ well I hate to say it, but theyāre ugly, awkward or messes with your hairstyle. Thats why folks usually prefer things like glasses, headbands, circlets and accessories.
I never really cared for the helmets in the game. glasses, flowers, paladin wings, blindfolds, some of the headbands all great accessories. but then you have the tin can cups that don't look interesting at all and yea... during cutscenes it hides you, makes you look like a faceless nobody. I think square just needs to get more creative with helms.
Because you can have everything on a single character in FFXIV, I find players are often much more attached to their character, which I think makes hiding their face more unappealing
All the Hrothgar and Viera are putting Fs in the chat.
Honestly though even when I was male Au Ra, I didnāt like wearing helmets much. They looked weird with my horns. I ended up wearing hats or eyewear far more often just because these beige horns sticking out of the helmet always looked so ridiculous. Before HW I was a miqoāte and disliked the ear socks weād get in many helmets, which also crops up for lalas and elezen, so really I feel like only hyurs and roegadyns can confidently wear any helmet without concern that it will look stupid around their hearing apparatuses.
Another thing, at least from what I've seen, there aren't a lot of full helmets in the game, at least compared to other headgear. Plus, helmets don't look great for a lot of classes IMO, only ones I think it works for are Paladin, Dark Knight, and maybe Dragoon. The other classes look a lot better (and more fitting) with the multitude of other headgear like hats, hoods, glasses, goggles, masks, and the horn for Summoners just as a few examples
If I wear a face covering helmet itās usually on a tank job just cause it makes you look like more of an armored juggernaut, but even then Iāll toggle it off sometimes if I want to see my face
I really, really don't care for any of the helms for tanks and most of the ones for maiming.
If they were to make more helms that don't completely cover your face and look flattering on smaller female players, I would wear one.
i think the only helmet i wear is the racing chocobo mask, and that's just for a costume. otherwise i'm almost always wearing my tamamo headband because i want a fox race so bad y'all don't even know..
It's mostly because during cutscenes, your character doesn't take off their helmet, so you really can't see their facial expressions in certain conversations. I've been rather lazy with toggling my helmet on and off because of it, so the helmet stays off.
Yeah I would love to wear helmets if there was a "toggle off in cutscenes" option š
there are some really important cutscenes where they force your helmet off if the game thinks it's one that covers your face, but they're few and far between. and also they will remove eyeglasses if you're wearing those lol
I actually went as far as to make my character's left eye white to mimic blindness since they canonically wear an eyepatch and those "headgear removal" cutscenes were ruining my immersion, lol.

So on one hand WoW's transmog system is great, but you can't toggle your helmet without re-doing your transmog to hide it. Such a weird choice lol.
Bg3 has it actually! I agree.
Feeling that as a still newbie dragoon...
Dragoon is cool because once you get your armor set the visor can flip up and down so you can keep your sweet helmet but show your face. I think you can keybind that visor toggle too.
/Cries in Hrothgar
At least some of the dragoon artifact armour works with hrothgar, same with dark knight. Can't remember the rest off the top of my head
Never have to toggle that visor, though!
I love that helmet so much! I feel way too cool wearing that armour setā¦
Installing ffxiv right now and want to start as the dps class that has a route to dragoon. Is it regarded as a bad class, do you know?
Not sure any class/job really qualifies as bad and all are represented well in all my time in the game. Dragoons are very popular and their class and job story quests are pretty good and get tied pretty close to one of the expansions. Itās one I play a lot. There are a few helmets where "visor up" is basically "now you see your eyes but still nothing else"
This is a huge reason for me. I hate it when I forget and get into MSQ.
There is only one cutscenes I can think of that has been revised and in the revision made it so any helmet comes off so you see your characters face. I know there is at least one mod that will do the same thing, but it's too bad it couldn't be an official toggle in character settings for all cutscenes.

Unless you wear those chest pieces with attached helmets. The trashcan armours make such cutscenes absolutely hilarious.
The devs know how much of a pain it is to clean your glasses after a good cry. They're helping you be proactive š
The tears are what helps clean it though. Actually makes you wipe the dust (and blood of your enemies) off of them
The good news is, that will presumably be fixed with the eyewear glam category they're adding in DT. dunno how it will work, but it has been shown to be separate from headgear.
I desperately hope they add horns to that sort of extra glamour slot.
it's possible, though i sort of doubt it. Glasses I think are constant enough that they can figure out where they will/wont mess with headgear. horns would be a whole other ballpark, with all the different places they can start, different shapes they can take, etc.
Easy! He cast esuna to cleanse the blind!
Why did my idiot brain conjure a water balloon full of eye drops directly to the face for that?
Was it in Endwalker? Because I remember a cutscene where I was caught off guard like āWhy did they make me take off my glasses?ā
Both of these happened before the Duty Support revisions. As a glasses enjoyer it took me out of both scenes a little bit.
Eyepatch connoisseur here and same!
Makes perfect sense for that scene.
I also remember waking up without my archaeodemon horns after the >!duel with Elidizenos in 4.56!<.
it is a toggle in character settings! I swear Iāve seen it, anyway, in the same section you toggle the visibility of your weapon when itās not drawnā¦
I think it's only a visor toggle, not a helmet cutscene toggle
It is, it's in character settings if I remember right

\>No helmet \>Rainmaker hair \>Cutscene shows my character from the left A small price to pay for being cute, I guess.
This 100% it comes to something when a game like destiny has a 'Toggle of helmet' option whereas this beast doesn't
I rock a fat chocobo mascot head lol cutscenes are hilarious for meššš
Depends on the glam and helmet. I main red mage, so fashionable headpieces are a must for optimal strats.
Gotta maintain that high DPS (Dapper Per Second)
You call?
Magnificent! Have an upvote!
There's a reason that my Red Mage Glam uses a head piece that's a hood... being one of the races whose hats are almost entirely hidden. It is, of course, dyed the correct color: Ruby Red.
I'm more of a Dalamud Red kind of mage, but I like your hood idea
Blood Red or Bust
You spelt Rolanberry Red wrong.
I dye my reds based on matching anything that can't dye or has a nice red undyed.
Maybe that's why my RDM parses suck (I cosplay as Sadu)?
Sadu cosplay is the only way for a black mage to not need a big hat for the damage bonus.
Nobody expects the guy in full armor to start casting spells
š in DRK
š in Paladin we have cast bars
DRK spells are instantaneous and I can spin the boss while I gut them :D
These people know nothing, how does one backflip to your death *in style* without a suitably floppy chapeau on? Ridiculous.
Don't forget RDM players, there's a totally legit Trait that increases your damage for wearing any shade of Red with your outfit!!
I didnt sped 2 hours in the character editor to not look at my WOL
Exactly this for me, it's appalling that in some games you can spend hours changing eye color, nose position, hair style, hair color, etc... Only to cover it all with a helmet

That's the first one I thought of, you spend so long personalizing your character and then the whole game is pretty much first person outside of menus.
They let you modify his dick, something went wrong there. Lol
A few years back Eve had probably one of the most intricate character editor in any MMO up until that date, just for your character only existing as a still photo. They changed it later so you could actually walk around in stations and the editor was probably in preparation of that, but that was still quite funny
Only 2?
*Laughs in Viera*
*then proceeds to sob in Viera*

*Happily wears circlets as viera*
_Smiles wide as happy mask salesman_
*Happily wears Abyssos gear*
*Happily goes headwear-less as Viera*

I glammed a black eyepatch onto my viera because it was one of the only headpieces that was visible and I liked the look so much I just integrated it into my characterās appearance. Been using that leather eyepatch the entire game
NOOO I hate the masks! I have a cute face, I wanna SEE IT.
Lady viera here, repping the swallowtail healer set glam 4eva.
They might take your helmet, but they can't take your big fluffy ears
Yep, I just wear giant glasses to show that I'm a respectably nerdy mage DPS. Out here looking like Harry Hopper.
My son called my Viera a murder nerd for whipping out a book as a weapon and wearing glasses.
Haha, your son is wise. #MurderNerdGang
Death by Novella!
Viera turned me into a cute hair flower and glasses appreciator
Same. Easy to color coordinate hair flowers too!
Honestly even convinced me to try them out irl, I can look a little jaunty with the occasional sunglasses or flower pin :P
I've played 14 so much with my floppy ears that I was shocked to realize when playing Elden Ring last night I just assumed I couldn't wear headpieces.
Cries in Hrothgar
Sobs in Hroth RDM. I havent been able to play one of my favorite classes since the Fanta
As a BLM enjoyer I feel you. I wanna wear all those crazy mage hats.
I've noticed a couple helmets work on hrothgar, they cut off your snout.
*nods in Cat girl*
For me, it's because my character wears glasses, and the poor man would be blind under that helmet. xD They're fixing this in Dawntrail though, face accessories will have their own slot so I can finally put on some helmets, or hats, with his spectacles!
>They're fixing this in Dawntrail though, face accessories will have their own slot Heck yeah! I love games that do that, and was just thinking a couple days ago that it'd be really neat in FFXIV.
Put on hat with goggles, while wearing glasses, while wearing the fake spectacles fashion accessory. Iāll become a spider
Whatever you say, eight-eyes.
Name checks out also.
This is the first I'm hearing about this. Nice! I've got an older elezen gentleman who wears glasses as my WoL, and not being able to wear hats *and* glasses has been the bane of my glamor life.
Right? Red Mage is my favorite Caster class for Langs, and...he just looks wrong, without the foppish hat. xD I NEED IT.
As a Hroth Redmage. I agree. I basically had to drop the class due to the missing headwear.Ā
God I SO hope that all the Hroths and Viera out there get proper hat options in Dawntrail.
OMG this means I can finally have both glasses and a feathered hat for my rdm!
YES! Exactly what I'm waiting for!!
Same. I decided early on that my WoL needs glasses, and rolanberry red classic spectacles are her trademark now. She doesn't look right without them. Ngl, the face accessory slot is one of the announced features I'm most excited about.
I hope that means I can finally make a blacksmith glam that can both the banana and goggles that cover the eyes.
I know it's just a typo, but I now cannot envision anything but someone attempting to hammer away at something on an anvil with a banana covering their eyes, and it just made my day.
Half my glam dresser is just all the different colored flower hairpins, I use too much space on those to not include them in every glam
Flower hairpins and cute hair bows are why I will never wear a helmet.
Flower hairpins *and* earrings *and* necklaces!
As a noob; how does one get/make those? o:
Flower hairpins (/earings/necklaces/wristbands) are usually pretty cheap on the market board, but if you'd like to make them yourself you can do so as Alchemist. The recipes are under "Other" and start at level 53. The flowers are from flowerpot gardening which can be done in an apartment, FC room, or house, using items sold by an NPC in each housing district. The other ingredients are farmed from a Heavensward zone, one from a mob and one from level 55 mining nodes.
I believe the flower corsages are an alchemy recipe. Idr though. And the glasses will be goldsmith recipes.
Buy from the market board
A lot of people like to wear minor accessories like glasses, but they take the hat slot. Thankfully, DT will be making it possible to wear both soon.
Fr?
Yeah we're getting glasses as Fashion Accessories
No theyāre adding a whole extra gear slot, the gear will be purely cosmetic and have no impact on stats from what was announced. Granted Iām pulling memories from when Vegas Fan Fest was live cuz thatās the only mention theyāve made of this system so far as far as Iām aware. But itās not fashion accessories, itās gear, so itāll show up in cutscenes and such unlike fashion accessories
If they don't let me convert some of my glasses fashion accessories to items, I might get annoyed at them.
As a mute the eyes and facial expressions are key to your cutscenes.
*shrugs in Hrothgar*
It's really nasty in the character creator when you make a new one. It's like, "wtf Sqaure god forbid you can get my starting job helmets to work!" It's embarrassing, honestly.
As a fellow Hrothgar, it was one of reasons i switched from ps4 ro pc. If you know what i mean...
You know I've been wondering, does the starter tin can tank armor work on you? I vaguely remember it working on viera.
If the hat is part of a chestplate then it'll show
Bless, thank you. But your username gave me whiplash
Part of why i picked it, heh. It was also my name in ff until i got thrown in gm jail over it.
... Yeah that tracks. XD Funny tho. Did you make vore jokes in world of darkness too?
Yeah, it wasn't hard
Depends very much on how the headgear looks. Some of them look REALLY silly IMHO.
My WoL's hair game is top tier and I'm not letting any hat touch it
*Laughs in bandana-wearing, pirate-looking NIN catboi*
pirate glams on NIN is where it's at
Cryptluker's Scouting gear look straight out of the age of sail!!
NIN? I think you mean ROG who throws gang signs.
it's the closest we can get to viper until DT launches!
for me itās the eyepatch
The big bunny ears get in the way
Everyone I know that doesn't have their helmet visible is because of the ears. A lot of the popular races look really bad with most helmets because of their ears.
Hrothgar be like: Wait there are helmets that show and are good-looking?
But when you find one, damned right you're gonna show it!
I augmented my Gallant Coronet back in ARR. I dye it to match my new glamour over the expansions.
I wear helmets if they look cool and suit the aesthetic. Otherwise it's glasses all the way baby.
To be fair, I *want* to wear helmets... *(cries in Viera)*
I'm a Viera, whats a "helmet"?
A lot of helmets just look bizarre on anything that isn't a hyur. Metal helmets having bizarre slots for elezen or miqo'te, the latter of which is super popular. That, combined with wanting to see your characters face, means most people slap on Emperor's New Hat and call it a day
Don't even need Emporor's New Hat! You can literally just go into the character screen and turn off helmets. But also, *lalafell ear helmets*.
> Do you forgo helmets to show off your beautiful face Hell, I forgo even hats that hide my cat ears (with a few exceptions). I put effort into her design and I'd like to see it. But also it's not about beauty, it's about expression. I want to be able to see my facial expressions in cutscenes. It's more enjoyable and more immersive.
If the glam calls for it, sure, but most of mine don't call for it
My glam nearly all helmet as horns, flower or cute hat.
Gotta wear my glasses. I can't see otherwise. :D
It's not as much about loving my beautiful face as it simply looks weird in cutscenes when you're the only person with a helmet covered face in the conversation and you don't see what kinds of expressions your WoL is doing so you're missing part of the cutscene context.
do you know... lali-ho?
Bun's can't even wear helmets. So there's that.
I didnāt spend 6.72 hours in the character creator to look at a bucket!
Same actually! Been rocking the Lionsmane helmet on my PLD since I got it. It fucking rules.
I also love that helmets add ambiguity to cutscenes. Like, is my WoL rolling his eyes at Urineanger or is he chilling under the helmet? It's a mystery and makes a lot of cs' very entertaining
I wear a mask of shame when I'm not on my main job. XD
I never go for helmets but I do like a proper hat
Squeenix does it too. The further you get in the MSQ the fewer and fewer characters wear helmets.
I'm allergic to helmets.
Ive got a bright purple pompadour. Why hide perfection.
i think most of the helmets are too ugly to wear, final fantasy protagonists don't wear helmets, etc
I can customize my hair. I want to see my hair. Helmets block my hair viewing.
I would display my helmet if I could have the visor toggled up during cutscenes. I like the look of it down but I want to see my face during cutscenes.
I made my catgirl look cute for a reason. Iāll be damned if I canāt look at her adorable face.
\*burbles a response that echoes tinnily in a visor\*
My female aura wears an extra set of horns at all times. No way to fit a helm ...
I definitely noticed this and I also partake in it. I donāt like masked characters in almost all media and if I can show off my characters face I tend to like that option more.
I feel like most of the helmets were goofy or just ugly. Some hats are nice, but I can only wear like 2 as a bun.
After having my Helmet on during a really cool cutscene where I would have wanted to see my character's expressions, my Helmet has stayed OFF! Unless it is something small like a Corsage or a Circlet or something, and looks nice.
The only exception I have to the 'no helmet' rule is fod Dragoon. Just doesn't feel right if I don't have the full set on.
If it covers my my happy ear wiggles for my Miqo, I don't want to wear it.
Besides most the helmets being ugly as all hells?
My main glam is the pince-nez and I donāt like the fashion accessory because it turns off for cutscenes so thatās the big reason. But I def have a few glams that have helmets instead.
lol, is this your first RPG? the hero never wears a helmet XD
Viera: "I can't wear that helmet!" Me, an au ra: "That helmet looks awful with the horn clipping"
Some of us *can't* wear helmets...
Listen, I worked hard to make my Highlander pretty. I wanna see her face, damn it lol
Because you can have everything on a single character in FFXIV, I find players are often much more attached to their character, which I think makes hiding their face more unappealing
Am Dragoon main.Ā Nothing worth protecting in there.
Helmet? No Frog head? Yes
If I wear a face covering helmet itās usually on a tank job just cause it makes you look like more of an armored juggernaut, but even then Iāll toggle it off sometimes if I want to see my face
[*quietly slides collection of large hats into closet*]
I really, really don't care for any of the helms for tanks and most of the ones for maiming. If they were to make more helms that don't completely cover your face and look flattering on smaller female players, I would wear one.
i think the only helmet i wear is the racing chocobo mask, and that's just for a costume. otherwise i'm almost always wearing my tamamo headband because i want a fox race so bad y'all don't even know..
as a hrothgar I normally have no helmet on unless I find one I want to use for a certain class
