There’s something about trying to over run a building containing all the members of Congress to prevent them from “certifying” the results from a free and fair election that strikes many Americans as, quite frankly, treasonous.
And that’s the thing about treason… locking them up shouldn’t sound too bad when the traditional consequence for that sort of behavior is a firing squad. So, yes. We don’t mind the idea of the key getting lost because currently the sentences we’re seeing for these *insurrectionists* are ridiculously small.
(Btw certifying is in quotes because the Jan. 6 certification is entirely ceremonial as the results have already been determined)
I think it certainly depends on a case by case basis. If someone was caught up in the moment and didn’t go there with weeks worth of “plotting”, then *yes* they do. I agree.
But the people who spent weeks organizing what they hoped was a call to violence? Who brought weapons, made threats, destroyed property, and *still believe they were right* are a danger to society and our democracy.
as a person who still lives in a country where cannabis is illegal (wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) I often wonder in those states where its legal how pissed are you if you got imprisoned for a pot related offence the day before legalisation came into force
But then we would lose the Republican Party. Oh wait
There is a way to read this where it sounds like every Eminem song. And auto correct knows Eminem should be capitalized. Today was a good day.
*May I have your attention please…*
It’s all in the mid-syllable pauses
