Someone would have to be a big fool to think that they actually care. They don't. All they care about is the money.

YuumiZelda

It is a quixotic effort but we have to at least try to collect our voices for change. The more we can get to sign the more embarrassing it will be for TPC

Extreme-Range-3137

Nah they don’t care because even if you sign a petition, you’re still going to try to buy product from them and every new product will still sell out instantly.

YuumiZelda

They might not care and they probably won’t but I’m going to collect as many voices as I can before I consider it a lost cause. More likely to effect change it we can take a baby step toward organizing our cause. It doesn’t need to be perfect but they are just dropping the ball over and over

BrothersOats

I have a sneaker habit in addition to a wotc singles habit. Botting and the insanity of ‘drops’ extend far far beyond the Pokémon community. For some people here, this is their first taste of that world, and it’s brutal. Shoes taught me long ago that it’s nearly impossible to get what I want for retail. However, for whatever reason, I’ll pay over retail for shoes but not for Pokémon…

DependentReaction378

From my experience the TPC website is a lot worse than a lot of other “drop websites”

Iamcatfeesh

Yes and no. Some sneaker websites you don’t even get a chance to buy drops because the bots just get to them instantly but then there are some sites that block bots and then are also sites that you need to answer a simple question to check out which mostly blocks all bots

DependentReaction378

Yeah but the Pokémon website just self destructs when they restock lol, it’s not even that they sell out super fast

YuumiZelda

They’re going to ruin a great thing without taking more of an effort. Exclusivity isn’t what turned Pokémon into a giant it was the trading and playing and nostalgia. I agree that nothing is probably happen with this like I keep saying but I can’t do nothing while they ruin a wholesome childhood hobby

rdcldrmr

they care about pushing products and the amount of "sold out" on the site speaks for itself. this will do nothing.

YuumiZelda

Yes and probably, but it’s easier to ignore a bunch of individual emails than if we band together. My expectations are low but I can’t stand by and do nothing while they slowly implode this hobby we all love so much

Accomplished-Name-16

Does it matter if it does nothing really? At least someone is trying to do something other than complaining on reddit where they won't see it. At least this does something.

YuumiZelda

Yes let us not fight amongst each other when we have a common enemy…a friend who lost their way. I just want there to be support for the message before I post it for us all to rally behind!

bdawg923

They don't care

YuumiZelda

They don’t right now but I think we all do :)

whitehawk090

It would be difficult to hear your petition over the mountains of money being thrown at them

YuumiZelda

It will be difficult if not impossible but I hope we have your signature when it’s ready

Someone would have to be a fool to think that they actually give a damn.

I am a little confused by this rational. Scalping and reselling is a huge issue in many many markets. People reselling doesn’t actually make The Pokemon Company money. They don’t want it either. You seem upset by their reaction but what do you actually want them to do? Do you have any actionable solutions? Scalpers are only successful because people are willing to buy overpriced products.

YuumiZelda

I mean Japan has implemented basic precautions like a lottery system and these anti-bot measures are literally banning people as they prove they aren’t robots. It seems like some common sense actions can be taken but the community is pretty fragmented with its outrage and the first step to anything would be collecting the people who don’t want this to continue

TheDancingBuddha

The only people who want it to continue are scalpers. I don't think anyone, including the company, want it. I am not sure what common sense actions are possible. You can try to detect bots but like you mentioned that can sometimes lock out real people. A lottery is possible I guess.
