Your SSS Maternity Benefit

As defined by the Philippine Social Security System (SSS), the maternity benefit is a daily cash allowance granted to a female member who was unable to work due to childbirth or miscarriage.

For employed mothers, it could be regarded as the maternity leave granted by SSS. Yet, even the unemployed and self-employed members can also avail this benefit under some conditions.


How to qualify?

To avail of this benefit, the female member must:

  1. Pay at least three months contribution within the 12-month period immediately preceding the semester of her childbirth or miscarriage.
  2. Notify the SSS of her pregnancy through her employer if employed; or submitted the maternity notification to any SSS office if separated from employment, a voluntary or self-employed member.

Note: Per SSS’s policy, only the first four (4) deliveries or miscarriages shall be paid.
