BPO Industry Offers Jobs to Nurses & other Medical Workers

Date Posted: Aug 28, 2013

Filipino nurses and other healthcare workers who are finding it hard to look for jobs in hospitals or clinics can opt to apply for available jobs in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry through its new service- the Healthcare Management Industry or HMI.

A report from ABS-CBNnews.com said that there are thousands of available jobs for healthcare professionals in HMI companies. The workers would still be able to use the knowledge he or she gained as a medical worker because they would attend to health-related concerns of overseas patients but this would be done over the phone.

The report said that currently, there are about 200 HMI companies in the country and they have more than 20,000 job vacancies to fill. The companies are specifically looking for:
Medical Coders and Billers
Tele-Radiologists
Patient Monitoring Staff and
Pharmacy Benefit Managers.

Entry-level workers in this industry can expect a salary of Php18,000 to Php24,000 a month. To be considered for the job, applicants should have a medical background, familiar with medical terminologies and has knowledge in Information Technology.

This new BPO service seems to be a viable and growing industry for healthcare workers today. Aside from US, the HMI companies also plan to cater to patients in countries such as Australia, United Kingdom (UK) and other Asian countries.
