Private and government employees will enjoy a long vacation this August as the government announced non-working holidays on August 29 to 30 (Monday and Tuesday). Since most companies have no work on weekends, some employees will enjoy a four-day vacation.
August 29 is National Heroes Day while August 30 marks the Eid’l Fitr or end of Ramadan of our Muslim brothers.
According to the statement, the proclamation of holiday on August 30 aims to promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr,”.
“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of the national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Friday, September 10, 2010, as a regular holiday throughout the country,” it added.
Moreover, it has been a tradition to celebrate the greatness of our national heroes every August 29th. It aims to remember the patriotism and contribution of the Filipino heroes for the democracy of the Philippines today.
On the other hand, long weekend also has great addition to our economy and local tourism. Most employees take advantage of the long weekend to visit and relax at some local tourist spots in the country.
