Medical and Information and Technology professionals now has reason to stay in the Philippines as GE Healthcare, a subsidiary of General Electronics with local real estate developer Century Properties are building $100 million state-of-the-art medical and information and technology facility in Makati City.
Construction of the said project will generate 3,000 jobs while more than 5,000 jobs will be given upon the start of operations which will be last quarter of 2013 to early 2014.
The new facility aims to provide the best healthcare by using the latest medical equipments and therapy to date. Aside from giving best health services, the new hospital also aims to be boosts the country’s Medical Tourism.
Medical tourism is a rapidly growing industry in the Philippines, which can fully benefit from the establishment of new and technologically-advanced medical facilities such as Century Properties’ medical-IT building project. With currently about 30-member hospitals, clinics, wellness center and resorts, the Philippine Medical Tourism industry registered gross revenues of $350 million since its establishment in 2006. By 2015, the Department of Tourism expects a $3 billion profit, with as much as 1,000,000 foreign patients arriving annually. Research also shows that the Philippines has an even bigger potential in attracting medical tourists because of its culture of hospitality, quality healthcare services, competent medical practitioners, and cheaper medical treatments of as low as 70% as compared to other Asian countries.
