New Contact Center Opens in Zamboanga

Date Posted: Aug 10, 2009
Zamboanga City is now part of the growing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry in the country as it opens their first call center firm, AXS Communications, Inc.

The new Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firm which officially opens lat August 10 is located in the village of Tetutan, just a few kilometers away from the city’s business district.

The new BPO firm which offers inbound and outbound sales and back-office operations currently has 50 seats people but will expand to 200 seats later this year.

Aside from the manpower expansion, the new hub will also expand their services from voice-based services to software programming and website development once the firm reached a stronger foundation.

The company which hires mostly fresh graduates from Zamboanga’s universities and colleges were very impressed with their new employees.

"We are confident of human resources here," says AXS Communications chief operating officer Jamela Anne V. Galindez.

Galindez also said that their agents will also be taught how to speak Spanish since the city’s official dialect Chavacano is derived from Spanish.

Other BPO companies are said to invest and expand operations in Zamboanga and other key cities in Mindanao in the coming years.
