Country’s largest labor union teamed up with other government agencies and private companies to launch the biggest simultaneous nationwide job fair that will start on May 1, Labor Day. The fair was themed “Labor Day! Tayo Na! Trabaho na! Jobapalooza ’09!”



Jobapalooza aims to help decrease the number of jobless Filipinos in the country. The job fair also aims to reach out to all jobseekers, in and outside Metro Manila that will cater jobs for both local and abroad.



Apart from Metro Manila, Jobapalooza will also be held in 16 regions around the country with the help of sponsoring firms, employers, recruitment agencies, local government units, Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs), and the Department of Labor and Employment and other government agencies on the same day, May 1.



President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will be present on the launching of the Jobapalooza in SMX Convention Hall, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay. DOLE claimed that over 1,000 employers will join the event to offer jobs for our jobless citizens.



Seminars that will improve and teach livelihood skills will also be lectured and demonstrated in the job fair. The seminars aim to help jobseekers find alternative ways to earn money for their financial needs. Training and Scholarship certificates will also be given to chosen job seekers.



Jobseekers can also enjoy the free concert at the MOA grounds themed as “Alay sa Manggagawang Pinoy” that will feature premiere bands of the country. The concert claimed as tribute for all Filipino laborers who work hard here and abroad.



DOLE Secretary Marianito Roque says that social the social partners have recognized the need for collective action and mutual collaboration in mitigating the effects of the global crisis on the workers and the economy, adding they agreed to lend a hand in helping workers particularly the displaced as well as new graduates find jobs locally and overseas through the conduct of all jobfairs all over the country.



The participating trade unions are the Trade Union Congress of the , Federation of Free Workers, Associated Labor Union, Philippine Transport General Workers Organization, All Workers Alliance Trade Union, Trade Union of the and Allied Services, Alliance of Filipino Workers, Philippine Organization of Labor Unions, and the National Association of Trade Union.
